Hi y’all! I’m Karli, Co- founder of Whimsical Creative, an award winning wedding planning and floral design firm based in Houston, TX. I have a husband, Eric and a little boy, Oliver, both of whom are the lights of my life.  I’m a native Texan and  LOVE all things design, fashion, and helping others fulfill their potential.  You know, the girly stuff.

My main goal here is to help new and aspiring wedding planners follow their dreams and build a business they can be proud of.  This isn’t just about a business for me; it’s about fostering a community, embodying community over competition- something I desperately wish I had when I started.

Melanie

The occasional guest speaker. ​

Hi, I'm Melanie, the other half to Whimsical Creative. I was born and raised in Houston, TX. After spending years in finance, working in a corporate office and never feeling quite satisfied, I decided to take a leap of faith and find a career where I could be at my best everyday and spend my time serving others.

I now live in Tomball with a big crazy family of my own: my ever supportive husband Chris, three kids, and two cats Milo & Otis. When I’m not working you can find me serving at our church, playing games with the family, paddle boarding, or hanging with my close girl friends with a glass of bubbles in hand! While Karli is mostly running this side of our business, I'll make the occasional pop in and can't wait to meet you!

One that used to only exist as a day dream.

With over 500 weddings under our belt and a killer, handpicked team behind us, we've taken a side hustle to a successful multi six figure wedding business. 

But, it  wasn't always easy.

As self taught business owners, we started from the ground up. We worked 80 hours weeks, poured our hearts and our money back into our business over and over, survived a pandemic and fallen down a lot along the way. But you know what? We always got back up.  We knew we wanted more so we obsessed over being the best.

What I (and the Whimsical Creative team) use to run our planning business everyday

Aisle Planner

Aisle Planner is an amazing project management system that allows you to create custom projects and house everything you need to plan a wedding. From creating timelines, to managing budgets, customizing checklists, tracking guest lists and more, it's truly a one stop shop and non negotiable in my business!

Later

I use Later for social media planning—mostly Instagram. You can upload images, plan captions, and even save hashtag groups for easy access. You can also easily upload your wedding galleries and create "take" making them super easy to locate later. This system is a game changer for feed curation.

Dubsado

An easy to use CRM system that allows you to manage your client relationships. This system will track client inquiries, send proposals, and manage contracts and invoices, which helps you keep everything in one place. It's also has some awesome automations so you never miss a beat!

Google Workspace

Okay, if you only get one thing on this list, let it be this. Google Workspace allows you to create and share docs, organize files, collaborate with clients and much more. You can pretty much run your entire business in here. Plus, everyone NEEDS a professional email address planawedding@gmail.com is not the vibe and does not make you look like a credible planner!

Trello

Trello is an amazing project management tool that allows you stay organized, collaborate internally and track progress on projects. This is what we use for all of our workflows, project note keeping, call logs, etc.! You may be wondering what the difference between this and the aisle planner checklist is? The aisle planner checklist is more client facing, this is internal.

Branded Simply

If you're looking for professional branding, web design or all of the above, Kristin is your girl! We have been working with her for 7 years and she's done 2 full branding and web design projects for us, countless website updates and helped us anytime we've needed it along the way. I seriously can't imagine life without her! Everyone needs Kristin in their life.

Quickbooks

If you’re currently tracking your business expenses in a spreadsheet, do yourself a favor and get quickbooks. You can track income and expenses, monitor your cash flow, file tax returns and run reports so you can make informed decisions about your business.
